About Red Stick CrossFit
Red Stick CrossFit is the first affiliated CrossFit gym to come to Baton Rouge back in 2009. At the time, the original owners, Lance and Erin King decided to start it in their own backyard and after seeing exponential growth in such a short period they packed up and moved into the back warehouse of the Ogden Park Market Shopping Center off Government St.
Fast forward to 2011, when Andrew and Melissa Chicoine moved to Baton Rouge and Andrew started coaching for Red Stick. He instantly fell in love with it and knew he had what it took to take it to the next level. In 2012, Andrew and Mel purchased Red Stick CrossFit and immediately expanded into the front warehouse so they could further their relationship with Matt Bruce and his Bruce Barbell program.
The success of Red Stick CrossFit at this point was growing faster than they imagined in such a short amount of time so Andrew sought out his long time friend, Chris Fairley, who had just moved to the Baton Rouge area, and was a prior Coastie with him in New Orleans back in the Pre-Katrina days! Together they decided to expand and open Red Stick CrossFit SOUTH in the Essen/Perkins area of Baton Rouge in January of 2015.
So where are we now? Today Red Stick CrossFit is continuing to grow and evolve as a brand. They say that when you love what you do, you don’t work a day in your life. This statement holds true for the Chicoine’s and Fairley’s as well as all of the Red Stick CrossFit coaches. The community at Red Stick CrossFit is strong, we are a family, and you will never see us stop taking it to the next level!
