Our Coaches

RSCF is home to a diverse group of quality coaches from a variety of backgrounds. Our coaches have certifications from several national certification bodies, and hold a number of CrossFit specific certifications. They also have a thirst for knowledge and are always looking to improve themselves, while at the same time remaining dedicated to their athletes. We strive to ingrain all of our athletes with proper technique and form from the beginning in order to set up a firm foundation. Our aim is to meet athletes where they are and help them reach their personal goals by capitalizing on their strengths and allowing them to overcome their weaknesses in a safe environment.

Coach Lance

Lance is an owner and the head coach at Red Stick CrossFit. He is dedicated to developing quality and dynamic programming, overseeing its implementation, and co-coaching with all the coaches at Red Stick CrossFit. He is a CrossFit Certified trainer, USA-Weight Lifting Level 1 Sports and Performance Coach, and a CrossFit Pose Tech Running Coach. He has also attended the CrossFit Movements and Mobility Seminar. When not at the gym, Lance is a professional fire-fighter/EMT and a dad. According to Lance he didn’t necessarily come to CrossFit by accident. He was always looking for the best form of working out that was applicable to life and the job, and then he was introduced to CrossFit through his brother who was a CrossFit coach in Washington. Lance started doing WODs at home, and noticed the tremendous benefits. So, since there was no CrossFit gym in Baton Rouge, at the time, Lance and Erin decided they would open one. They first started in their backyard. Then, moved to parks and borrowed gyms… and once a core group was established, Lance and Erin opened their doors to their first brick and mortar gym in Mid-City Baton Rouge.

Coach Erin

Erin is also an owner of Red Stick CrossFit, and our primary Kettlebell Instructor. She is CrossFit and CrossFit Kids certified; holds a CrossFit Nutrition Certification under the direction of Robb Wolf and is also one of our CrossFit Pose Tech Running Coaches. In addition, she is a teacher in Zachary, a certified Special Education/Math and Physical Education teacher, and a mom. When not at work, chasing around the little-ones, or working behind the scenes for Red Stick CrossFit, you can find Erin coaching kettlebell classes, or coaching a group of swimmers that come into our program for their dry land training. Erin is a stickler for proper technique. She breaks down movements into parts in order to make them easier to understand, and she ensures us that taking the time to do it right will help us obtain our goals as athletes faster than the acceptance of a sloppy rep.

Coach Andrew

After he finished his enlistment in the US Coast Guard in 2007, Andrew decided there was no place he would rather work than in a gym.  Therefore, he started training at globo gyms, until he found CrossFit.  Andrew is a NSCA certified personal trainer, who is currently finishing his Human and Movement Science degree at L.S.U. He is also a CrossFit Certified trainer and a CrossFit Pose Tech Running Coach. Coach Andrew is very committed to each athletes’ success. He enjoys holding open gyms (usually on Saturdays) for those that need a makeup a WOD from earlier in the week…for those who need to work on a certain skill… or for those who just can’t get enough.

Coach Garrett

Coach Garrett used to train at a globo gym, until he found CrossFit, and for him there was no turning back… He is a CrossFit Certified trainer, USA-Weight Lifting Level 1 Sports and Performance Coach, a CrossFit Pose Tech Running Coach, and holds a certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant, a medical assistant, and EMT-B. He is completely dedicated to his training and a CrossFit fire-breather. He is also an energetic motivator during your workout.

Coach Mark

Coach Mark is a NSCA certified personal trainer and holds a B.S. degree in Human Movement Science from LSU. Like Garrett and Lance, he is a certified CrossFit trainer and a USA-Weight Lifting Level 1 Sports and Performance Coach. He has spent time as a missionary in China (and in the future, he is hoping to return there and open up a gym as a way of reaching College students). Mark has a tremendous knowledge of body mechanics and attention to detail. He is very patient, and has a strong desire to make sure everyone understands the movements and executes them properly during every part of the class from warm-up to skill-work, to workout, to cool down.
